M.Teach School Placement Graduate Student Exchange Programme.
Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Education or SHBIE, University Brunei Darussalam“s graduate school of education extended its internationalisation initiatives to collaborate with an international graduate school of education from Melbourne, Australia. From the 13th to 16th October 2014, Dr. Jeana Anne Kriewaldt, the Professional Partnerships Coordinator for the Melbourne Graduate School of Education (MGSE), University of Melbourne and the acting Dean of SHBIE, Dr. Masitah Shahrill with two academic staff from SHBIE, Mr. Mar Aswandi Hj Mahadi (Acting Academic Advisor of the Programme) and Mr. Hj Azwan Hj Awg Besar (Acting Assistant Academic Advisor) went to four selected primary and four selected secondary schools in the Brunei-Muara District. The selected primary schools located in the Kampong Ayer (the Water Village) included Sekolah Rendah Pehin Dato Jamil, Sekolah Rendah Saba Darat, Sekolah Rendah Sungai Kebun and Sekolah Rendah Sungai Siamas. While the selected secondary schools they visited were Sekolah Menengah Sayyidina Hassan, Sekolah Menengah Rimba, Sekolah Menengah Rimba 2 and Sekolah Menengah Katok.
The objective of Dr. Kriewaldt“s visit was to facilitate the “SHBIE-MGSE MTeach School Placement Graduate Student Exchange Programme“ between SHBIE, Universiti Brunei Darussalam and Melbourne Graduate School of Education, the University of Melbourne. It is proposed that MTeach graduate students from MGSE will be placed in the selected primary and / or secondary schools in Brunei to experience 2 weeks of school placement experience. In return, it is also proposed that the MTeach graduate students from SHBIE, Universiti Brunei Darussalam to take part in school placement experience in selected primary and / or secondary schools in Melbourne, Australia. This programme is proposed to commence from June 2015.
